Violence Against Women – Why Should You Care?

Many of us are fortunate enough to live normal lives—we work, we play, we have families, friends and life partners who love us.
However, there are many women across the world for whom even the most ordinary activity is impossible.
They may be living in constant fear of a violent husband, or trying very hard to piece back a life that has been ravaged and ripped apart at its seams by sexual assault, female genital mutilation, forced marriage or attempted honour killing.
Anyone can be a victim.
The fact is, ANY woman can be a victim of violence.
- It could be your mother
- It could be your sister
- It could be your daughter
- It could be your aunt
- It could be your grandmother
- It could be your cousin
- It could be your best friend
- It could be your neighbour
- It could be your colleague
- It could be your boss
And if you are a woman, it could be YOU.
As long as society continues to treat women as objects and does nothing to protect her rights to a life free from violence, the rapes, abuses, torture and deaths will continue.
If silence means consent, we’d rather not have that on our conscience. Would you?
How can I help?
If you believe that:
- Women have the right to live free from violence
- Men need to take responsibility and take action towards the solution
- Ending violence against women requires the efforts of both men and women
Then support us in raising awareness about and working to end gender-based violence.
If you are a man, here’s a starting point.
